The Scarsdale Community Mens Shed decided to make a small contribution to the the Children's ward of the Ballarat Base Hospital.
On Tuesday the 16th of April two representatives attended the hospital and handed over a basket of Easter eggs to be shared amongst the children in the children's ward.
( There was a cuddly little rabbit snuggled in amongst the eggs too.)
The wonderful staff, always busy and attentive to those they care for, managed to find a few minutes to meet our representatives and accept the offering.
We are truely fortunate to have such medical care facilities in our region, and staffed by dedicated people.
The Famous Scarsdale Community Mens Shed raffle for 2019 has been drawn.
Congratulations to Michelle, Lisa and Darby!
Thank you for your support in purchasing tickets.
Gday,
Hope everyone is well.
Our shed is pleased to report that we received a donation earlier this year from the Victorian mens shed association in the form of a defribulator. We thank them and hope we never have to use it.
Some of our shed members attended the Golden plains shire council meeting at Linton the other night to see what the outcome would be of the councils decision to let us use the old Newtown cricket site for a new home. I am happy to say that the council voted unanimously to let us use the site. We would like to say a very genuine thank you to council for their decision. We have a meeting planned with council in April for the purpose of working out the best way to achieve what we would like to do at the site for the benefit of our community into the future. So thank you to all that have helped getting us this far, and we hope your support is there in the future as we intend to make this opportunity an asset for the whole of the community.
Our sheds Easter raffle is under way. There is a first, second and third prize of easter egg baskets. If you would like to buy a ticket or two, you can purchase them from the Scarsdale general store, the Scarsdale hotel, the Smythesdale post office, and the Smythesdale butchers. It will be drawn just before Easter, and the winners will be notified by phone.
We are still collecting old vehicle batteries and scrap metal for fund raising, and have decided to keep it going. Please call us if you can help out.
We are now selling used IBC tanks for fund raising. Please see on our services available page for more details.
Stay safe and look after each other.
Gday,
I hope everyone had a happy and safe new year. Our shed had a quiet January, but we are slowly getting back into the swing of things. Last year was a good year for our shed, with quite a few community projects either completed or getting under way. The shed was happy to help build and complete the new bbq area at the Scarsdale town hall so it is now ready for hire. To our regular supporters we say thank you and hope your support is ongoing into the future. Also thank you to the community for their support of our shed and our community activities.
We were asked to do a sausage sizzle for childrens week at the Well in Smythesdale late last year. The day went well and the kids had a ball by all accounts.
Our latest raffle was drawn in December. The winner of the $100 Bunnings voucher was R Draper. Thank you to all that supported the raffle. Thank you to the Scarsdale general store and the Scarsdale Hotel for selling tickets. Our next one will be getting under way in the near future.
We were lucky enough to receive a $500 donation in January from the Smythesdale progress association. So thank you to them for the recognition and faith in us. The money will be very handy this year with our plans of finding a new home.
Speaking of which, we will hopefully know in the next few weeks if our bid to use the old Newtown cricket club site for our permanent home will go ahead. We have been working on this for some time, so hopefully Golden plains shire council will say yes at this months council meeting at Linton. Fingers crossed.
We have a couple of new members to go with the new year, so welcome and we hope you enjoy being part of our shed.
Our fund raising idea of collecting old vehicle batteries and scrap metal is slowly picking up speed. If you have any batteries or scrap, please call us and we can come and collect them or we can let you know where to drop them off.
If you are thinking of joining our shed or want to know more of what mens sheds do, please call us and hopefully we can help or put you on to someone in your area that can help.
Stay safe.
Gday,
I hope everyone is well and staying warm. The Golden Plains shire council grants funding scheme has be and gone. We were lucky enough to receive a grant to help us along with our shed requirements. I would like to thank our shed member Charlie Consiglio for his time and effort arranging the grants process. I would also like to thank Paul Owen from Golden plains shire council for his continued help and support. The grants ceremony at Rokewood was very well put on, and a large cross section of our shire was represented. To all those that have helped us so far, we thank you and hope your support will continue into the future.
